The Closet is written up in an AWESOME Fashion Blog!

September 26th, 2009 by admin | Posted in Uncategorized   No Comments »

Style maven Carly shares her witty insights and informative commentary on fashion, art, and SoCal living in her blog Immersed Within (click here: http://immersedwithin.blogspot.com/).  We are particularly enjoying her revew of The Closet Westlake Village! Carly writes,

“…I came across a commercial for another buy-sell-trade company called The Closet. It just so happens it is only 15 min away from my house! I wasn’t expecting much, but as soon as I walked in I already found things I would buy. Mind you I live in a town where True Religion Brand jeans and a sparkly top are the hottest thing around, so to my surprise there was more to this little resale boutique. Not only did I find $70 Frye mint condition boots (that I had to squeezzeeee my lil foot into) I found a silk leopard dress (totally not into leopard but for some reason this dress was perfect to me) I also picked up a pair of classic ray ban ish knockoffs. I am such a happy camper with all of my purchases!! The owner is named Johanna and she was the nicest girl ever! She even owns the one in Santa Barbara on State Street!”

Recessionista Tip: New Fall Wardrobe on ANY Budget

September 19th, 2009 by admin | Posted in Uncategorized   No Comments »

So it seems Fall is upon us! Say buh-bye to itty bitty bikinis and HELLO to cozy layers and rich tones.

As the seasons change we are all itching to freshen up our wardrobe with all the hot new trends we see this fall, but of course, we are on a budget and love a great deal too!

Here a few Recessionista tips to help you strech your fall shopping dollar and still pull of a fresh, new look to wow friends, family and co-workers with your IMPECCABLE and oh-so-current style:

1. Don’t ditch those Summer duds! We’re not suggesting you rock your bikini with your boots, but some elements of your Summer wardrobe can be re-integrated into a fabulous new Fall outfit.  For example, take that tunic you wore poolside as a swimsuit cover-up  (Tory Burch tunics at The Closet starting at $58 are a steal) and layer over a long cami with leggings and slouchy boots for a totally chic Autumn look.

2. Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize!  The Closet had hundreds of belts, vintage jewels, bags, scarves, and hats under $10 to add variety and excitement to any outfit.  So take that same v-neck tee you wore all summer long and pile on some long vintage chains, a fedora, and wrap a scarf around your neck( A la Lil’ Wayne or A la Grace Kelly, take your pick) . Dig out last Fall’s leggings, flats, and a grandpa cardigan for an effortlessy  pulled together cool-weather outfit.

3. Shop in HIS closet! This season, the men in your life will have more influence on your wardrobe than ever before..Boyfriend jeans, boyfriend blazers, mens’ button down shirts, grandpa sweaters are all super-in!  SO, start browsing HIS closet to add another dimension to your outfit, and all without spending a penny! Belt and cuff his jeans and pair with heels or ankle boots, add a feminine cami and cardigan and you’re set! Or take those denim cutoffs from summer, add a fitted tank or v-neck tee, and top it off with his blazer and motorcyle boots for a new Fall look.  To keep the blazer from looking too masculine, roll up and cuff the sleeves, and leave it unbuttoned.  Layer on a soft floral scarf, or a handful of vintage chain and pearl necklaces to really take it to the next level.  Remember, balance is key for this look to work, so only incorporate one piece of his wardrobe at a time, and make sure the rest of the outfit is soft and feminine.

Hopefully these tips will help make your wallet AND your wardrobe happy this Fall!
